2015 Joyful Ornament Recipient

Connie Davis

Connie Davis, is one of the strongest women we have met, she loves her family and life to the fullest of measures. God has been her ROCK and her faith is steadfast.

Just before New Year’s Eve in 2001 she heard the words “you have cancer” for the first time. She was diagnosed with stage two breast cancer. Her treatment consisted of a lumpectomy, chemotherapy, and radiation. In November of 2002 she was cancer free. With much rejoicing she and her family thanked God for his miraculous healing.

Ten years after the first diagnosis of cancer, in February 2011, Connie was once again diagnosed with stage two breast cancer. Treatment consisted of a double mastectomy and chemotherapy. She also had the genetic testing and learned that she is a BRCA 1 carrier. It almost felt like she had gone through this again for the first time after ten years of a good report. Treatment was successful and she was given the all clear once again.

In September of 2013 she felt lumps in her neck. The cancer had returned and this time it was in her lymph nodes in her neck. The treatment once again was chemotherapy and radiation. The cancer shrank and the doctor asked her to stay on a regular rotation of visits so that he could monitor her health.

In the spring of 2014 Connie was diagnosed with stage 4 cancer in her lungs. She is continuing to fight cancer and is receiving chemotherapy treatments by infusion.

Through all of this and more, all the way back to 2001, she has never stopped working or caring for her family. She even finished her bachelor’s degree and graduated from Appalachian State University in May of 2013. She never quits! She is determined to live her life and watch her grandchildren grow up. She is a fighter and although she deals with discouragement, she trusts in the Lord to take care of her. She is an amazing woman, who is beautiful inside and out.

The One who calls you is faithful, and He will continue to be faithful. 1 Thes. 5:24 ISV
