2019 Joyful Ornament Recipient

Ellie Hatcher

Ellie is a seven-year old battling cancer for the second time. Her first diagnosis was in April 2014 – she had a tumor in the mediastinum (the cavity in the chest between the lungs that contains all the organs except the lungs). The cancer was a yolk sac tumor which means the cancer cells were present in the lining of the sac when she was an embryo. The cancer had also metastasized to her legs. She underwent 6 cycles of chemotherapy, then had the tumor removed in October of 2014 in Boston.

In April 2018, she was diagnosed with a brain tumor. She was again started on chemotherapy and had the tumor removed in August 2018 at the Levine Children’s Hospital in Charlotte. She underwent a stem cell transplant in October.

She enjoys horses, unicorns and art. She is University of Georgia Bulldog fan. Please join the Joyful Team as we love Ellie and her sweet family during this difficult journey. You can follow Ellies’ story on Facebook @prayersforElliebean
