2018 Joyful Ornament Recipient

Virginia Zcaplla

On June 27th I was diagnosed with gastrointestinal cancer. This was the biggest shock of my life. I thought I was above any serious sickness or disease as I have lived a life of health and fitness for the last 25 years. My coworkers and friends often say, “Virginia you are the picture of health.” I am 52 years old born and raised in El Paso, TX. My parents came to the U.S. at the age of 18 years old shortly after they married. I moved to Colorado at the age of 18 to start my journey as an independent adult. I met and married my husband there and I lived a total of 14 years in the beautiful mountain state. Shortly after our first child was born we moved to Connecticut where my husband is from. We lived there 13 years until the Lord called us out from there and landed here in Greenville 6 years ago. I have worked at Berea High School as the bi-lingual parent facilitator for the past 5 years. I enjoy my job very much and love the people I serve. We attend Bridgeway Church and have been there since we moved to Greenville. Our church family has been very supportive through this difficult time. I know beyond a shadow of a doubt that this diagnosis is not God’s plan for me. His plan is Jeremiah 29:11 and I am standing on this promise which is more real to me than my circumstances. I will see the goodness of the Lord in the land of the living!
